The Annual Opportunity Zone Expo in Las Vegas

A prominent presence in the Portland, Oregon, entrepreneurial community, Barclay Grayson serves as the senior vice president of BPM Real Estate Group, which maintains a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial projects. When pursuing real estate development projects, one area that Barclay Grayson of Portland focuses on is opportunity zone funding. He attended the 2019 Opportunity Zone Expo in Las Vegas.

Introduced through the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the opportunity zone funding mechanism is limited to projects in qualified distressed communities and is intended to boost job creation and economic development in these zones nationwide.

The 2019 event, which was held in May at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, brought together a diverse group of professionals, including developers, investment bankers, institutional investors, and fund managers. Also attending the event were tax specialists and attorneys, as well as government officials who were able to provide information on current regulatory issues that program participants face.

Keynote speakers presenting at the conference included US Congressman Mark Amodei (R-Nevada), Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, and the executive director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council.
